The workshop at the Onishi Art Festival is based on a piece of artwork by Bettina Mileta from Germany, which was previously exhibited at the Bauhaus Dessau. During the Onishi workshop, participants will combine multiple pieces of silk and perfect a technique suitable for this delicate material, creating one large piece in only two colours: red and white. Each participant will make their own pair of squares, which will then be allocated a place in the overall grid. In this way, the textile grows to create its own unique Onishi look. Bettina Mileta will guide participants through the communal quilting process, fostering a joyful yet relaxed working atmosphere.
